I've Come This Far By Faith

Tami and I were talking today about life changes and transition. Her comment to me was "like the song, ‘We've come this far by faith, leaning on the Lord, trusting in His holy Word, He's never failed us yet.” I agreed with her as I began to sing.

Her response brought so many memories flooding my mind. My mom loved playing this song, by Albert A. Goodson, on the piano. When we heard her start to play, my sister, Pam, and I would come running into the living room and join her by singing. I can still hear our harmonies. The accompaniment and the words would jump off the page and come to life with my mom's rhythm and spunk and became one of my most treasured childhood memories.

Our experiences and memories accompany us in life, and in transition. The way we embrace the memories we have will influence the way we go through change. It's really our perception, and response to it, that determines our next step. Change is always happening, and what we choose to focus on will determine our attitude through the process.

The Lord is our constant and He promised to never leave us. He is our Truth and our Guide. He is ever faithful, and I can honestly say, He's never failed me yet.

“And those who know Your name will put their trust in You,

For You, O Lord, have not forsaken those who seek You.”

Psalm 9:10
