My One Thing

As I was taking time to sit and have tea this morning, meditating on the Lord.  I thought of this phrase, “If you could ask anything of God, what would it be?”.  The more I pondered this question, the more it began to resonate something within me, like a chorus of harmonious thoughts dancing in my head.  Is it just me or does this question deserve some serious-soul-searching honestly?  I immediately think of all the immediate needs that are occupying a good portion of my thoughts, but somehow know that asking for help in any of these matters doesn’t get at the heart of what my spirit would want to cry out to God…if I had the chance to only ask one thing.  Hmmm, what would it be?

Healing for physical need? Provision for financial need?

Help with a decision? Peace for relational conflict?

While there are many things in my life that are pressing, I want to have the ability to look beyond my immediate need and ask for something more. I want to ask for something that will last and make an eternal difference. A couple of passages in Matthew come to mind…

Matthew 10:7  “And as you go, preach, saying, ‘The kingdom of heaven is at hand.’”

Matthew 6:33  “But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.”

As we seek and set our hearts on God, the ancient things, and His kingdom, it says we will receive everything else as well. How great is that?!

My one thing; More of His manifest presence in my life, and that I would partake in His Kingdom that is right here, within reach. Lord anoint my 5 senses to see, hear, touch, smell and taste your goodness so that I do not miss out on the adventure of what you are doing all around me.
